Open your eyes, open your eyes I have strewn your path with cherry blossoms I have scattered yellow flowers and violet and pink Can you doubt love, when Autumn Olive scents the breeze And I unfurl each honeysuckle blossom with tender touch?
Did you not see the five mallards Preen themselves upon the shore in sweet spring showers? The dozen swallows dive and dart, weave and soar Over the burgeoning waters and the arbor of roses Are these not the answers that you seek?
The Christmas cactus blooms though this is spring The poplar peeks in the window shyly, quivering In new green and forever white The blue heron glides with an ancient grace And gives you my elegant assurances See the three squirrels swing comically Eyes shining, tails fluffed, jowls gyrating Master of ceremonies, I entertain you with their antics See the goslings flap their downy wings Like you, they are all potential and all loveable
The bright Cardinal brings his beauty A small gift and feeds it sweetly to her He sings to you as you work in the woods Listen and be comforted by the song of my love Accept it openly, even for those who cannot hear
This is your role in creation To love and be loved, to see and be seen To sing and to listen to my song Be still and know all is well, I am here My love is all around, open your eyes
