My favorite inheritance is a pair of down snow-pants that were my fathers. It's hard to compare them to diamond rings and grandfather clocks but every time I pull them on I feel a lightness of spirit. I know I'm about to be freed from the confines of interior space. It was my Dad's love of the mountains that gave me the opportunity to discover my own love for growing things.
I look silly in these quilted, poofy cream-colored pants that are several sizes too big for me but that only adds to the sense of abandon they offerthe deer and muskrat and cardinals won't care and neither will I. Thank you, Dad.
Enjoy, Susan
