December 27
What has passed in this night? Cold air came through, making a white world whiter. The moisture sought refuge clinging to the
trees, frosting their branches; but then a warmer breath must have eased in, so
that now we are in a cloud. Sound is
muffled, stillness reigns. I dip into it, taking it in with my eyes and breath,
then closing and settling, slip, slide and sink into silence.
Often people think it takes discipline to meditate morning
and evening. I find it takes no more effort than a child exerts when she climbs
into her mothers arms and succumbs to the comfort there. Sometimes a sweet
scene, like this morning, gentles me in; sometimes I run to the experience from
a hectic day, eager for the sanctuary of that embrace; and sometimes I squirm,
not ready to give up the world. However
I arrive, soon I find my heart is beating in rhythm with Mother. Let nature draw you into her lap. Youll find she is always there, willing to
scoop you up into her rejuvenation.
Enjoy, Susan
